As hard as we try to remember our phone, there are some times when we are distracted, or in a hurry and we don’t realize that we have forgotten our phone until it is too late. We are already at the office or down the highway… or it fell out of our pocket without us knowing. Do you want to get notified when you leave your phone behind? Wouldn’t it be great to get an alert when you are separated from your phone? Wouldn’t it be nice to have a device that's smart enough to know when you are about to leave your phone behind or when you are not? Being notified a quarter mile away may be too late. The phone could already be picked up or stolen.
How do you stop losing your phone?
Well, there are no guarantees in preventing phone loss, but a phone reminder device (a.k.a. PRD) can certainly be a huge help in this area. A Prox PRD® has adjustable alert distances. The default alert distance has been extensively tested to alert you before forgetting your phone and leaving it behind in environments such as at home, at the office, in the car, or in a restaurant, store, hotel, etc. Different environments may have different alert ranges for the same alert distance setting. Do initial testing at the default alert distance before making adjustments. The PRD alerts before you get too far from your phone. Alert distance ranges can vary greatly and may be shorter or further for some phone models and environments, especially if both the PRD and phone are outside in an open space/area and there are no obstructions — e.g., buildings, walls, doors, trees, or even people.
How do separation alerts work?
The Prox PRD uses Bluetooth® BLE technology which allows for low battery consumption. The Bluetooth® signal, depending on the channel and the range, will have a specific distance range before there is no longer a connection. Once the user crosses that threshold, the PRD verifies there is a true separation from the phone and gives an alert. This allows the user to quickly return to the phone and retrieve it before anything mischievous occurs or the user is far away from the phone and has to waste time returning.
What are the chances of losing your phone?
Your chances of losing your phone are greatly reduced when you are alerted within the close proximity limits of a phone reminder device. After all, wouldn’t you rather be alerted sooner rather than later that you are no longer near your phone? The Prox PRD is great at helping you not lose your phone. Whether you have an iPhone or an Android, The Prox PRD gives consistent, reliable alerts.
The newest Prox PRD feature is the ability to switch between Home mode and Travel mode. Home mode will suppress alerts when the PRD is not moving. This is a great feature when you have put your keys down by the front door and are walking throughout the house. There is no reason for the PRD to continue alerting. On the other hand, there are situations (e.g., at the airport, out for dinner, etc.) where Travel mode might be more appropriate. With Travel mode, the PRD will alert when EITHER the PRD or the phone is on the move and they get separated. This helps keep an "eye" on your phone in case someone purposely or accidentally picks up your phone and walks away with it.
The Prox PRD® has numerous other features and it is highly recommended that you read the Prox PRD™ User Manual to become familiar with the six features available in this fabulous device.
