Life is dynamic, not static. Change is going to occur. The Greek philosopher, Heraclitus had an expression which is very true, “The only constant in life is change.”
At Prox Devices®, we understand that change is inevitable. There will be a time when you get a new phone or maybe you get a second phone. And, there may be a time you want to give or lend your Prox PRD® to a family member or friend. When that time occurs, we have a simple solution to the transfer of your PRD to a new phone. Be sure, the new phone is compatible (i.e., iOS 14.0 and later or Android 8.0 and later.) If the new phone is outside of this range, it does not mean the PRD is not compatible. Instead, it means we have not thoroughly tested the PRD on that phone model and thus cannot guarantee the PRD will work on it.
This article intends to help you transfer your Prox PRD to a new phone. Thus, it is implied that the PRD is already currently paired to an existing phone. It is assumed, the pairing instructions are understood from the initial pairing.
Transfer your Prox PRD to a new phone
To transfer your Prox PRD to a new phone, you must follow these steps:
1. Unpair the PRD from the first phone. Go to the phone’s Bluetooth® settings and locate the PRD_XXXX among the connected Bluetooth® devices.
2. Tap the icon to the right of the PRD_XXXX listed.
Then tap “Forget This Device” for iOS as shown (or tap “Unpair” for Android).
4. Turn the PRD off by holding down the button and waiting for the power down sound. The power down sound occurs after the series of individual beeps that indicate nap mode time.
5. Turn the PRD on by holding down the button and waiting for the power up sound.
6. It is now ready to be paired to a new phone via the phone’s Bluetooth® settings.
The Prox PRD will learn a new environment
Once the PRD is paired with the new phone, the PRD will begin to learn its new environment. The Prox PRD is equipped with technology that will analyze Bluetooth® channels and determine what changes need to be made to generate the best Bluetooth® connections in order to create the best user experience possible and eliminate and mitigate against false alerts.
The Prox PRD built-in connectivity check
Once paired, at any time, the user can single-click the Prox PRD® and if a blue LED is displayed, the PRD is connected via Bluetooth®. Upon this single-click, if the PRD displays a red LED, then the PRD is not connected via Bluetooth®. The user should not confuse not being connected via Bluetooth® with not being paired. Once paired, the device's ID will show in the Bluetooth® settings on the phone. In the settings, the device will show either “Connected” or “Not Connected”. This refers to the blue or red LED lights respectfully. If there is no LED light, then the PRD is turned off or the battery needs to be replaced.
The Prox PRD makes tremendous use of its simple one-button design. It is becoming known as the “App-less One-der”. The Prox PRD® has six features in one as noted:
No subscription | No data collected or sold | CR2032: 1-year battery life (typical)
No password | No app | No registration | iPhone, Samsung, Google Pixel Compatible
